Access restricted to certain computers in library and O'Hare Science labs. SciFinder Scholar provides quick and easy access to a wide diversity of research from many scientific disciplines including: references from over 9,500 currently published journals and patent information from more than 50 active patent issuing authorities; important discoveries that span the scientific century back to 1900; the latest scientific breakthroughs almost as soon as they are published with references added daily and some patent information as recent as two days ago; complete coverage of chemistry and the life sciences including biochemistry, biology, pharmacology, medicine, and related disciplines the world's largest collection of organic and inorganic substance information


CHEMID  (Government)

CHEMID is a chemical dictionary file for over 344,000 compounds of biomedical and regulatory interest. Records include CAS Registry Numbers and other identifying numbers, molecular formulae, generic names, trivial names, other synonyms, MeSH headings, and file locators which lead users to other NLM files. In addition, SUPERLIST provides names and other data used to describe chemicals on over 30 key federal and state regulatory lists.


PubChem  (Government)

PubChem provides information on the biological activities of small molecules. It is a component of NIH's Molecular Libraries Roadmap Initiative. PubChem includes substance information, compound structures, and BioActivity data in three primary databases, Pcsubstance, Pccompound, and PCBioAssay, respectively. Pcsubstance contains more than 61 million records. Pccompound contains more than 25 million unique structures. PCBioAssay contains more than 1600 BioAssays.

GreenFILE offers well-researched information covering all aspects of human impact to the environment. It is a collection of scholarly, government and general-interest titles which includes content on the environmental effects of individuals, corporations and local/national governments, and what can be done at each level to minimize these effects. Multidisciplinary by nature, GreenFILE draws on the connections between the environment and a variety of disciplines such as agriculture, education, law, health and technology. Topics covered include global climate change, green building, pollution, sustainable agriculture, renewable energy, recycling, and more.

TOXLINE  (Government)

Primarily English language items; international coverage. Citations in TOXLINE cover pre-1965-forward. The records are derived from about 18 secondary sources. Citations may be retrieved by entering free text terms as they may appear in titles, keywords and abstracts of articles. Chemical substances can be searched by entering their corresponding CAS Registry Numbers and/or synonyms.

International Bibliographic Information on Dietary Supplements (IBIDS)  (Government)

The International Bibliographic Information on Dietary Supplements (IBIDS) database provides access to bibliographic citations and abstracts from published, international, and scientific literature on dietary supplements. Users can choose to search the Full IBIDS Database, a subset of Consumer Citations Only or Peer Reviewed Citations Only.


PubMed Central  (Government)

PubMed Central is a digital archive of life sciences journal literature, developed and managed by the National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI) at the U.S. National Library of Medicine (NLM). This database consists of full text, indexes and abstracts.
